Felt Easter Egg Jelly Bean Bag

I hope you had a chance to see my recent post on Easter sewing projects.

There were so many fun ideas I had a hard time deciding on which one to make, but finally decided on the Felt Easter Egg Jelly Bean Bag. There is a free download for the bag pattern at the link.

I can't wait to hide this in the yard along with Sophie's easter eggs. She loves jelly beans and will be so excited to see what's inside.

Toilet Paper Role Easter Bunny

Sophie enjoyed making an Easter Bunny out of a toilet paper role this weekend. Here's how you can make one too!

Supplies:
  • Toilet Paper Role
  • Cottonballs
  • Glue
  • Googly Eyes
  • Pink & Black Pipe Cleaners
  • Paper
  • Pink Marker
Directions:

1) Let child cover the toilet paper role in glue and glue on cotton balls.
2) Cut a pink pipe cleaner and role up into a nose shape.
3) Cut short black pipe cleaner pieces for whiskers.
4) Let child glue on googly eyes, nose and whiskers.
5) Let child color on white paper with pink marker to make inside of ears.
6) Cut out 2 large ear shapes from white paper and 2 smaller ear shapes from the pink colored  paper. Glue together to make 2 ears and let child attach to bunny's head.

Sophie had a lot of fun with this project -- what 2 year old doesn't love glue?

This craft was inspired by a similar craft on The Craft Nest.

Bunny Dress

My mother in law teaches costume design at a local arts school and occasionally people will donate fabrics which are not suitable for costume making. That's how I got my hands on this adorable vintage bunny fabric.

As soon as I spotted it I knew it would make a cute casual Easter dress for Sophie. I found the ivory colored fabric at Walmart.

I used the pillowcase dress tutorial from The Ribbon Retreat, with a couple modifications. I doubled up on the bottom border so that it required no hem, and I made the top sash from fabric rather than using ribbon.  It was a SUPER easy project that I easily finished in about an hour.

I really wish I had some pictures to share of Sophie in the dress, but the weather has been unseasonable cold and rainy. I'll add some as soon as it warms up!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

UPDATE :
Finally adding some pictures of Sophie in the dress...taken WAY after Easter! But it still works as a cute summer dress, although she insisted in wearing her black shoes instead of white sandals. She just recently learned how to pedal her bike and is SO proud of herself!

And she has inherited her Mama's love of taking pictures!

Except it's a little hard to do with the camera turned the wrong way!

 Now you have it!

So pleased with herself!

Penelope Bird Pillow

How cute is this little bird pillow? I thought it was the perfect accent for Sophie's new big girl bed. But I might have to borrow it to put in the glider in the nursery...

I used the Katie Bird pattern available for purchase from Gingercake Patterns & Design.  It was simple to make and turned out so cute.

The pink and green fabric is Heather Bailey Nicey Jane Pocketbook Pink which I got at Fabric.com. The green fabric came from Walmart.

You can get the pattern to make your own HERE.

Sophie's Big Girl Room

I am so excited to debut Sophie's big girl room! She has kindly donated her crib to her little sister and is now sleeping in the queen size bed that used to be in our guest room. I think she might be the only 2 year old around with a queen size bed. She looks so tiny sleeping in it at night!

The bedding is from Pottery Barn Kids, and is the same pattern that we used in her nursery and now will be using in her little sister's room.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this bedding. Pottery Barn doesn't carry the full/queen quilt anymore and I had to pay a pretty penny for a new set on eBay, but it was so worth it.

I made the bird pillow on the bed -- see details about that HERE. The other monogrammed pillow was made by my dear friend Sarah. She hand sewed the pillow and piping and stitched the monogram on by hand. Beautiful!

Of course the bedskirt was featured in this tutorial recently. Can you believe how well this thrift store re-purpose matches the bedding?

The curtains and paintings were handmade a few years ago when we were preparing for Sophie's arrival.

And it has all the sweet little details perfect for my Sophie.

Every little girl needs a piggy bank with a tutu!

Sophie loves her new room!

Who wouldn't?

Here in Our Corner

"Here in Our Corner" will be a feature with updates on all things currently going on!

Sophie upgraded to a big girl bed this week and she was excited! Look for her Big Girl Room Reveal coming later this week!

Sophie had her first sleep over on Friday at Grandma's house on Friday night so Robbie and I could paint the nursery. (I missed her....can you believe it was her first night away from me EVER?) We finally decided on a pale green color.....wish I could say we've decided on a name.  We've been debating about 3 names for 3 months now and just can't decide which one is perfect.

Grandma finally got a car seat! And graciously took Sophie to church this morning while Robbie and I stayed home sick. This pollen is not good for my allergies....

I found a pretty new Easter basket for the new baby. It's just like Sophie's but with a different liner. She won't be here in time to use it this year but I'll be prepared for next year!

We tried these chicken verdi tacos this week...so easy & so good!

I've been stocking up on birthday party supplies for Sophie's 3rd in mid-April. Can you guess what our theme is this year?

Bought new spring clothes for the girls. I love having girls when all the pretty summer clothes hit the racks!

Hope you had a great weekend!
