About

Hi, I'm Linda and welcome to Night Owl Corner! I am a wife to Robbie and mom to two beautiful daughters, Sophie & Audrey.  I'm also an avid crafter, mostly in the wee hours, hence the name Night Owl Corner.

Robbie is my best friend, and the best husband I could ever asked for. He calms me down when I am stressed, always makes me laugh, and can fix anything under the sun. We are blessed to have two precious girls – Sophie born in April 2010 and Audrey born in May 2013. I love being a mom to two girls and wouldn’t have it any other way. They are the joy of my life.

By day, I work full time in banking as a commercial credit analyst, but my true passion is crafting. I love uniqueness of handcrafted items and the challenge of making it myself.
Believe it or not, I’ve only been sewing for a couple years. I was inspired to learn after Sophie was born in 2010. I am very lucky to have a wonderful mother-in-law who is an expert seamstress and has graciously taken the time to teach me my way around a sewing machine.

I taught myself how to embroider by reading tutorials and watching videos on the internet. Like sewing, it’s grown into a passion for me as well, and I hope to eventually open my own Etsy shop when life calms down a bit, which will offer monogrammed bibs and burp cloths.

My grandmother and aunt taught me how to crochet as a child. I didn’t keep up with it for years until I decided to make a baby blanket for Sophie. Now it’s become another crafty hobby of mine, and one that I especially enjoy during the cooler months. It’s so relaxing to curl up on a comfy chair in front of the fire and crochet the night away.

Before the girls came along, Robbie and I spent many a weekend engrossed with DIY projects around the house. There is hardly an inch of our house that we’ve not added our touch to.

In the midst of all these craft projects, why not throw in a few of my favorite recipes? I’ve found so many good ones on Pintrest, especially desserts! I have a major sweet tooth!

A little more about me in no particular order….

  • I truly look forward to my morning cup of coffee, even more so if it’s a Vanilla Latte from Starbucks.
  • I never miss an episode of Modern Family and could spend hours watching anything and everything on HGTV.
  • I’m an animal lover, and believe in speaking up for those who can’t speak for themselves.
  • I’m a neat freak which is especially challenging with two little kids in the house.
  • I’m a fabric hoarder but quickly cart everything else that is not being used on a regular basis to the thrift store.
  • I never eat the last bite of a sandwich.
  • I'm obsessed with taking pictures and have hundreds of thousands of them. Thank God it's all digital now or my photo albums would be taking over the house.
  • I am an extreme perfectionist, which can be both good and bad. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve taken the seam ripper to a sewing project or ripped out half of a crocheted item just to fix one minor issue. But in the end my projects are always perfect!
  • I've received several questions about my sewing equipment. I have a Brother SE400 Sewing Machine, a Brother PE770 embroidery machine and a Brother 1034D serger. I love them all and would highly recommend any of them.

I started this blog on a whim one day after being inspired by so many other craft blogs that I follow regularly. It’s grown into something I am quite proud of, and I have enjoyed connecting  with many other creative people like myself. I’m happy to have a creative outlet to document my various craft projects, as well as a place to create a family photo journal and we can look back on for years to come.

My blog features sewing, arts and crafts, crochet, home decorating / DIY, recipes, and chronicles our adventures as a family of four. I hope you find some creative inspiration here!
