Crocheted Baby Slippers

I made Audrey 3 adorable pairs of newborn crocheted baby slippers during the last few weeks of my pregnancy. 

I don't know what it was, but I was crocheting like crazy the last month before she arrived. I made about a dozen hats for Christmas presents for kids in the family, slippers for Sophie and Audrey, and a hat and cardigan for Audrey. 

The first pair was made with Whistles and Ivy's Little Dot Mary Jane Pattern but I chose to leave the little dot off. 

Instead I embellished it with the most beautiful rhinestone buttons. I've had them forever, and they were the perfect finishing touch. 

  

 The second pair was made with the Flower Slipper pattern.   

I made the third pair with the Cuffed Slipper pattern.  

Yarn used was Caron Simply Soft in soft pink, and Patons Beehive Baby Fingerling in Angel White.

All three were quick projects. I love crocheting things that work up fast. I don't often have the time or patience to make large items like the Ribbons & Ruffles Baby Blanket. 

Sadly, she's already outgrown all three! But I'll always have these adorable little shoes to remind me how tiny her little feet once were.

Ribbons and Ruffles Baby Blanket

How beautiful is this blanket??? It is the perfect keepsake and can be customized using ribbon of your choice. Which means you can start working on it long before you know if the baby

will be a boy or girl.

I made one for Sophie that I trimmed with pink ribbon and and another one years ago trimmed in blue ribbon for a close friend who was having a little boy. It's made up of shell stitches with scalloped edging.

 

We had both Sophie's and Audrey's newborn pictures taken with the blanket. 

And carried both of them out of the hospital in it!

It is a time consuming project though, so probably only one that you'd want to make for yourself, a family member or a close friend. I worked on it off and on the whole time I was pregnant with Sophie.

The pattern came from a book called So Sweet Baby Afghans by Leisure Arts Little Books. I've had it for years - the copyright is 1999 - so more than likely it is out of print but you might  be able to find a copy on eBay.

 If you have time to invest in a big crochet project this blanket makes a beautiful keepsake.

The Audrey Hat

These beautiful hats were made with the Best Baby Cloche pattern. I made one for my little Audrey and it turned out so sweet I couldn't resist making two more for friends who are also expecting.

I think this is the prettiest baby girl hat pattern I've ever seen. I normally like to try out new patterns when I make gifts but I think this is going to be my go-to pattern from now on because nothing compares to it.

Bulky Crocheted Toddler Hat

This toddler hat was made with Lion Brand's Spring Fling Hat pattern.

I used Lion Brand's Hometown USA Super Bulky yarn in Tampa Spice. With such bulky yarn, this hat is very quick to make -- you can easily complete it in a couple hours at most. So great for gift giving! 

The pattern is easily customizable for larger sizes as well.

Easy Peasy Woman's Crocheted Hat

This hat was made with the FREE Easy Peasy Women's Winter Hat pattern from Crocheting the Day Away. 

I used Bernat Soft Boucle yarn in Natural and I love the texture it gave it. 

The pattern for the flower came as a freebie when I purchased some other patterns from Blue J Crochet's Etsy shop. But you can find tons of fun flower crochet patterns on Pintrest, including this similar one from Daisy Cottage Designs.
